The Steller's sea eagle, Haliaeetus pelagicus, is an awesome bird to see in the wild. The environment in which these eagles live is a very harsh one, days are spent out on the rough waters and they use the pack ice that flows in from Russia as a resting perch and also a look out. I wanted to capture the true nature of this rare and majestic bird. With the wind blowing and the temperature well below zero, I wanted to show the beauty and majestic nature of this eagle and how well built they are for this environment.
